Morganite belongs to the same family as aquamarine and emerald and is named in honor of J.P. Morgan, the legenary financier of the late 1800's and early 1900's who happened to be Tiffany & Co.'s largest client. As it is a relatively new gemstone, there is no folklore that is associated with it however that does not detract from its elegant beauty in the least. Morganite has a hardness of 7.5-8 out of 10 on the Mohs' Scale of mineral hardness.
